The Laboratory of Laser Spectroscopy is specialized on the investigation and functionalization of novel materials using modern optical and spectroscopic techniques. Current research is focused on the development and characterization of applied nanomaterials for optical sensors, photonics and biomarkers.

Historically, a fruitful research field of the laboratory was the high-resolution laser spectroscopy of impurity centers in solids (such as persistent spectral hole burning) combined with various external influences (high hydrostatic pressures, cryogenic temperatures, magnetic fields).
